For more than 90 days and less than 5 years

Temporary residency is the situation that authorises a stay in Spain for a period of more than 90 days and less than five years. Authorisations for a duration of less than five years may be periodically renewed, following an application by the interested party, if the circumstances are met to grant it.

International Teleworkers (Digital Nomads)

Non-EU foreign nationals can apply for a residence permit for international telework to carry out remote work or professional activities for companies located outside Spain, using exclusively IT, telematic, and telecommunication means.

Conditions:

  • For remote work: Only for companies outside Spain.
  • For professional activities: Allowed to work for a Spanish company, but it must be less than 20% of their total professional activity.

Requirements:

  1. Graduates or postgraduates from reputable universities, vocational training, or business schools, or a minimum of three years of professional experience.
  2. Proof of ongoing business activity from the employer.
  3. Documentation proving the remote nature of the work.
  4. Evidence of an existing work or professional relationship for at least three months, along with terms and conditions.

Permits and Duration:

  • Visa: For applicants outside Spain, allowing residence and work throughout Spain for one year, or less if the work period is shorter.

After one year, a residence authorization must be requested.

Investor Visa (Golden Visa)

Stay or residence visa for foreigners making a significant capital investment, defined as:

  • An initial investment of at least 2 million euros in Spanish public debt securities; or 1 million euros in shares or social participations of Spanish companies with real business activity, or in investment funds or venture capital constituted in Spain, or in bank deposits in Spanish financial entities.
  • Acquisition of real estate worth a minimum of 500,000 euros, free of encumbrances (if the investment is made by a married couple in a community property regime, one spouse can obtain an investor visa and the other, a family member visa).
  • A business project in Spain considered of general interest, based on job creation, significant socioeconomic impact in the geographical area of the project, or its relevant contribution to scientific or technological innovation. In this case, a representative designated by the investor for project management can obtain the visa.
